P5vd1-x CPU voltage

post #1 of 7
Thread Starter
Can anyone find out a way to manually change the vcore on this motherboard. My 805 will do 3.3ghz with stock voltage and im curious to see how high i can clock this sucker up. Ive been searching for days to find out how to increase the voltage but i haven't found an answer yet. If anyone can help i'd be most appreciative.

*Is it possible to edit the bios somehow to open up voltage options?

I just checked the manual for that MoBo and I didn't see anything about changing the Vc manually.

My suggestion is that if that's all you can get then let it be. Sounds good enough to me, specially on a VIA chipset MoBo.

we'll im ticked off because new egg and ASUS both advertised this product to have adjustable Vcores and not only that the reason i got the 805 was because ive heard alot of success stories of getting to around 3.7 on air and i have water. sorry just venting im just pissed off because they falsely advertised their product.

If you see motherboards with "V" in their designation you can take this to mean "Value" and not expect any decently high overclocks from them.

do the pencil mod should give you some vcore increase .. I read about this mod for P5WD2-E-Premium from a guy name Proth or something .. I applied the mod to my P5WD2-E-Premium and it made my system really stable .. but then I ran into the heat issue cuz I have 830 cpu ... now my rig is running rock solid at 4ghz .. I also have a P5RD1-VM & a 630 that I couldn't get it over 3.78 (no voltage adjustment) .. so I tried to applied the same mod to that board .. and guess what ?? .. I got 0.125+ increase on the Vcore .. I know that's alot of Vcore to increase .. but hell ...my P5RD1-VM had 1.26 stock Vcore .. so it's not going to hurt anything

If you decide to do this , MAKE SURE that you have enough room for that boost .. check your stock vcore first then calculate to see if it's still in the range .. here's my numbers so that you can have some ideas

These number is from my P5RD1-VM board
CPU = P4 630
Cooling = Big Typhoon

Vcore stock = 1.26 ~~~ Temp: idle 29C - Load 44C

AFTER MOD
Vcore = 1.38 idle .. Load = 1.40 ~ 1.42
Temp Idle = 35C Load = 54C

Currently I'm running that rig @ 3.82 .. I'm going to try to bring it up some more once I have some time off

Hope these info will help
