Q about new 7800GS temp.

Thread Starter
Hey, I just installed an evga 7800GS (AGP), and it says my core temp is 52 C. This seems a bit high, but I don't know much about these things. Is this card still overclockable? Thanks.

Honeslty it's not that far off depending on how your case is set up, the ambient temp, other components

Mine would run @ 45*C constantly during the winter and on the hotter days around 47*C. You might want to look at a better cooling solution, like a NV Silencer (becasue it ducts the hot air out) and maybe some intake fans either in the front or the side.

You GPU is typically the hottest component in the system and needs some good cooling to keep temps down.

The card is still overclockable, every card usually is. The GPU is good for around 90*C but you never want it to get that high, it won't but you wont experience problems at that temp but it's not good if it gets up there.

Just look into a better cooling solution and spend $30 to do it and your worries will be gone
