Dual 6600GT Asus for Ripping DVD

Thread Starter
Hi,

I don't know if this question has been asked before, but I am now....I know people onl upgrade their graphic cards are for Better Gaming expericenc, but, I just wondering if..Faster GPU would help to Ripper a DVD to AVI any faster?

Currently i'm using 6600GT Dual with P4 650 3.4GHz

ripping a dvd takes 2hrs for a good quality AVI

Say 6800 or 7800 would shorten the time and keep a good quality AVI file? Or its all base of CPU? If i get a P4 670 3.8GHz, would this shorter time? So instead of 2hrs to rip a dvd, now only take 1hr30 to get the job done..

i'm not familiar with this work of CPU and GPU, so please help me out

If you got an ATI 1X00 with avivo you would be encoding in a matter of minutes according to ATi.

Thanks guys, you'all have saved me at least 400bucks right there, a roomate is pushing me to get the 7800 and claim that 7800 wold help me ripper dvd faster, he'll looks like an idot now, when i'm going to show him this thread....

What is the different between the EE and Regular CPU... I got mine P4 650 EE 3.4 and not realizing it is an EE type, I only ocz to 3.7ghz, with the Motherboard i'm having, i can't do much about it... can't change the multiplier and FSB is just suck....

is it true that "ATI 1X00 with avivo" will rip dvd faster? I'll googling it....

thanks again guys
