I don't have any issues with sound on my little Audigy SE, come to think of it I don't have a single problem with the game. It hasn't crashed on me, the only thing it does is when I exit the game back to Windows it gets a "Critical Error", but I just click send error report and all is good

And the game have glitch because it was developed for Xbox 360 and PC in same time, making a PC game with a Console game in same time have alway been a problem, mostly because the games dont take full advantage of the PC possiblity (effectively auto-censuring themself) but also because well PC game are harder to make thanks to the hundred of different composent the potential buyer might have... but anyway, patches are comming, lets hope they'll give us more shortcut, I'm tired of having to press tab then clic on an icon to get to my map, its a freaking PC game jesus I want to use all my keyboard keys if I want too >_<
Just so you know, UncleGeorge, the F4 key opens the map. There is an addendum to the manual within the Readme.txt in your Oblivion folder. Here is a quote containing the additional keys that were mapped to certain functions:
Quote:
************************************************** ***************

2. Manual Errata and Addendum

************************************************** ***************

-New Quick Keys. Press F1 - F4 to access your Journal and Stats menu
F1 - Stats
F2 - Inventory Menu
F3 - Magic Menu
F4 - Maps and Quests
There ya go!

--- I really love this game too. I do wonder though if there is an option to adjust the NPCs AI to something else other than RetardMode®. It must be a hidden feature that no one has found yet. I remember there was a quest in Charol where I had to find this Argonian girl that's gone missing. She was in a run-down town to the south. I did all that I needed to do to get her outside. I told her to follow me, and she said OK. I started to head back to Charol, but she wanted her horse. I told her to stay, I got the horse, and returned to her and dismounted. I told her to follow, and she said OK again and mounted the horse. I start to go, but she strayed into the middle of the town COMPLETELY in the opposite direction I was going and she got mugged and killed. It took many many reloads to get her back to town. Basically I made her follow me back into the undergound and told her to stay as I left and killed any and all things moving in the town and pathway back to Charol. That's just one of my NPC nightmares!

Yes I know that... what I mean is why in the freaking hell cant we change the shortcut, pressing F4 is stoopid, I want to press "M" if I want too and if I want to I want "T" to drink a potion or whatever and I want to be able to change the mouse button fonction without having to go in the .ini and try to figure out what do what.

As for your AI problem, you cant expect a game this big to work perfectly the first time all the time so yes they can get stupid... but remember that they are hundred of them and they are non-scripted, they'll be patch that will fix this in the futur I'm sure

You can change the key combos for the shortcuts but the only way to do so is editing the ini file which has strange codes or whatever to change the keys

Yeah, you can change most of the shortcuts from within the INI file, but the shortcuts that are using the F#-Keys aren't in there. I don't know why, but they decided to hardcode those quickkeys into the game itself and not use the INI file. I searched throughout the Oblivion EXE file using a HEX Editor and did not find 003EFFF (The F4 Key by their numbering system) in there ether by Hex or by Text or by Text to Hex. It maybe in there by an ERRORLEVEL number, or by the ASCII Code refering to that key, or by some other means. Oh well, I tried...

You can use WinXP Keyboard Remapper 1.3 by Microsoft to remap the F4 key to the M key until a better solution comes out. http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/msklc.mspx

Just incase people want to know what the key number set is, here is my list. It's not all inclusive, but if there happens to be a key you want to use that isn't on my list, I'm sure you can figure it out.

Here's my Keylist

Guys, I know I can do that in the .ini, but lets face it, its a ****ing pain to do it and it would have been freaking more convenient and user friendly if they would have gave us the options to do it IN-game too -_-

I just started this game and it is confusing the hell out of me. I have never played this type of game; I am a madden/quake III arena veteran. I have been playing FEAR , BF2, and Quake 4

but I gotta admit, I have spent WAY TOO MUCH time the last few days being absorbed by Oblivion.....and YES, the graphics are f^#%*ing SWEEEET
post #20 of 23
I have to get this game as soon as my 7900GTX arrives...

Wish 'they' would hurry up and get it to me.
