New to overclocking and AMD, please help... - Page 2

^^I ordered the same modules yesterday, should be here Wednesday or thursday. Can't do better than BH-5 for high speeds and tight timings.

On a side note, do you know of a s939 mobo that can supply proper voltage to these modules, jrabb? I seriously doubt the ASRock 939Dual-SATA can do it, but I'd like to know what to get after I switch to PCIe.

At the moment the one in my sig, I just got into to 939mb so I wouldn't have an answere for that, but stick around theres sure to be someone who can answere that.

ok i can boot at 289 FSB with a 9x multiplier for a 2600 mhz effective overclock of the opteron, but now i'm having really major problems with the ram...........it will not work with a 133 or 166 mhz divider only 200 or 100 mhz divider, whereas 1:1 would probably kill the ram and 100 gives it a lousy 147 mhz rate.............so what am i doing wrong now? with a 133 divider it would give it a perfect 200 mhz clock which is what its rated for anyway........but it just won't boot under any circumstances with the 133 or 166 dividers no matter what HTT speed is, so now this is my new problem, is it these two dividers that are messed up in the motherboard hardware? or is it the memory not liking those dividers..........does memory have to support dividers or is it just the motherboard? i'm so confused why the dividers aren't working.........

p.s. if i ran the G. Skill memory that was mentioned earlier underclocked to 400-420 DDR - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231021 - do you think i could set the timings to 2-2-2-5 just like the other G. Skill mentioned? - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231013

oh and 60 C, is that really bad when its overclocked to 2600 MHz and under 100% load running both Prime95 and OCCT for about 45 minutes with the stock fan and heatsink? i know i can't get it much hotter then that, i'm just testing, the max case temp is 49-65 C rated, does that mean the actual processor? it sits at 45 C idle, big difference between idle and full load, i think i'll need a new fan if i want to keep it at this clock rate

this will be my last post for a bit while i test the hell out of this machine.........just wanted to thank everyone again for the replies and everything........much appreciated, i reached my max overclock of 2421 MHz for my opteron and 220 MHz for my ram at 2-3-3-5-1T timing with a 269 HTT, i could probably bring that up alot higher in the long run with better ram, and a much better fan/heatsink, but for now this will do just fine, much better then 1800/200 w/ 2.5-3-3-8 stock i'd say, woo hoo

maybe i will up the CAS and other timings to see if i can get more MHz out of it, but for the time being i'm going to leave it here..........you have no idea how frustrated i was when nothing was working earlier today, i almost grabbed the case and threw it off the table........would have been a bad idea.........hahaha, anyway now i have only one more question for the time being, is it better to have all 4 of my 512mb diimms in place at a 2T timing, or only 2 of them at a 1T timing?
