the 965/955 and i7 are pretty much neck and neck for gaming mate

The build above is good but tbh I would go with a corsair TX650/750W PSU as they have a lower failure rate than the XFX PSU's

+1 for the megahalems - you don't need the AS5, the prolimatech paste is great and comes free with the heatsink.

also if just for gaming, +1 for amd too, it is cheaper and if you get a crosshair 3 or 4 with a 955 it will perform the same near enough
well it won't be just for gaming, but that is mainly what I want to do with it. I'll be doing the occasional school work, and maybe some very light photoshopping or media viewing/listening.

You seem like you have already made your mind up that you want to go with intel and are trying to justify it

If so you are like me and to save any wasting of money or second thoughts, just go intel and be happy

If you live in England, I have some G.Skill Trident you may be interested in.

The $200.00 AMD 6 core 1055T can probably run 3 maxed games(2 minimized) no sweat. I went with AMD because I would never use all the Intel processing power for normal use(I don't fold.) But you should really get one of the 6 cores, it's only like $20 or $30 more than the quads.

nah, I'm in USA. I would prefer Intel, but if I can be convinced that AMD will be better for what I want than I will have to go with AMD. I wasn't trying to justify Intel I was just saying that it won't only be for gaming, I do browse the web and listen to music a lot, too.

i5 is more of a "gamer" route. This build will play any game maxed out. PSU is a little overkill, but will give you plenty of headroom for expansion.

Check the attached files for another option which is a single GTX 470 now with enough juice in the PSU for another in SLI later.

I don't plan on folding, so if what you are saying is true, than I am almost going to have to go with AMD.

I would like to ask Confessed, since he is being incredibly helpful, and I thank him for that. What do you think about AMD or Intel?

SLI is not supported by AMD and Nvidia is the way to go at this point in time.

TBH I would only go with AMD if you had a really tight budget.

Edit: I'm on an OCN posting spree. I've got like 50 posts just today LOL. Too...much...OCN. Must take general health break.
