Is my mother board holding me back?

I'm having trouble going past 2.5 GHZ with my cpu. I tried the voltage all the way up to 1.7 but still can't get it to run Super Pi or Prime95. I'm getting some new RAM in the mail in a couple days because I thought that might be the problem, and plus I just want to be able to run my RAM at a higher speed. But now I'm thinking my motherboard may be the problem because it's just the vanilla version. Ask if you need to know any more info, and I appreciate the help. I've learned a lot from lurking on this forum for the past few months.

i doubt it is the motherboard that is the problem. My friend has the same processor as you and he cannot get his clock speed past 2.5ghz. I believe it is the ram you need to address. I think if you put in dividers on the ram then this could sort your problem however try this if your new ram doesnt solve the problem. In addition if your mobo has an auto setting for the voltage on the cpu enable that as it will ensure ur temps dont get too high for no reason.
If this doesnt work try lowering the multipliers you are using to overclock as this could help you push 2.5 ghz

Right now I have my FSB at 250, CPU multi at 10x, memory divider at 166(333). I've lowered the divider more when trying to push my FSB further, and I've also tried different combinations of FSB and CPu multipliers.
