ok well i have this installed on my 1800XL card but i can monitor or change the fan speed, i also dont have any temp readings? whats going on? im useing ATI tool (.25beta14) to do this and it was fine before i put this fan on. has any one else used the VF900 with a 1800XL and had this problem? is there any other way i can monitor the temp?

the only control i have over it atm is the really anoying FanMate2 and the only reason im useing it is because without it the fan seems to run slower and i dont want it slow if i can see what the temp is any help???

ATI tool dosn't work well with the new 1k series cards. I suggest you look for a program called Overclocker. It is more compatable with the newer 1K series cards.

Remove ATI tool and uninstall your catlalist driver (drive cleaner).

Then reinstall both, that should fix it for you.

that over clocker program dont have temp thingon it am i right? as im sure i have it somewere as i was told to use ati tool for voltages and overclocker for the clocks and ended up useing ati tool for the lot.

am i right if i uninstall the catilist drivers it will get rid off my chipset drivers aswell? as i dont think i have the disc at had but i can easily download it. Also is there a way i want to reinstall it? i would guess the catilist first? but i may be wrong.

another thing to add to the story i have decided that the fan may be a dud as i found this program called speedfan and i opened, and it told me that my fan is runing at 2637rpm and its temp is -128C (note the minus there)

EDIT: ok well in that speedfan program i dont have any control over my fan so that may be the prob?

As far as fan speed is concerned... say goodbye to it. The VF-900 plugs directly into the power supply instead of the card so there is no way to control the fan without a drive bay fan controler of some sort. But it should be quiet enough that you shouldn't have to worry about it...

EDIT: Just found out the VF-900 comes with a fan mate 2 so use that bud

ok well thanks for all you help mate, the main reason i wanted ati tool back was for the temp profiles, so i could set the fan to go on full power only when needed, and be quiet when idel.

Yeah i got the fan mate 2 thing with it but it didnt seem to make any difference in rpm, but i think im going to just buy myself a fan controller after all this, i have been tempted by one for a wile now but every review i have read for the ones i have liked the look of have had some sort of problum with them, can you recomend one?

ok when i try to use ati tool not (artifact scanner/ find max mem/core) i get a error saying:

"The video card you selected for overclocking dose not seem to be used by windows.

Visual testing has been disabled.

To fix this. go to display properties, setings and enable the monitor output of this card."

But if i go to were it tells me there is nutting about enableing the output of the card, any help??

That's what you get when you use a beta. Try another program since ATi tool doesn't really support overclocking the X1X00 series.
