First Ever PC Build... Budget £500.

Thread Starter
Hello everyone... been researching this for about a month now and am finally buying the parts this week. Just need a last minute compatibility check and some kindly advice on my final case decision. I know i've SKIMPED on the ram but I am going to be upgrading this when I get a nice cash injection.

So the specs are as follows:

So does everything go together?

My choice of case (which will bring the build to just under £500 is out of the following:

ThermalTake Element T
or
Antec 300

Any recommendations on cases? Heard these where decent cheap cases...

Also, one more question for yous folks...

I have chosen the 5770 GPU made by VDX3D but there are about 5 other names for this GPU with almost the same specs (This has good ratings too) but this is so much cheaper. What is the difference between them? should I pay the differencein price and get the sapphires/powercolour GPUS etc?

Will keep you updated with pics and what not.

Thanks for the input

i dont think that you need such a big PSU, i had a 5850 and i ran that fine on my 600w, i dont know what you should be aiming for but i think that you could go lower with the PSU

Was given advice by some members on a different forum that you can't go wrong with this Corsair 650w, its a good investment plus very reliable. Was recommonded the PSU was something I did not want to skimp on.

EDIT: The aim of the build is to just get something cheap but decent with good upgrading potential. Haven't got much more than £500 so looking for advice. Will be buying the parts mid-week.

CM 690 II Advanced is a nice case for under $89 US but I'm not sure how much £ that is.

Lian Li makes some good cases around that price too.

I'd get another 2g ram stick. 2Gb isn't enough for gaming these days. Other than thar your config looks pretty decent - specially if you can unlock the 555!

I'd recommend a Cooler Master case usch as the CM 690 II (regular version). CM is pulling out some great cases, you can't go wrong with them IMO.

The CM 690 II looks like an excellent case but would porbably go for the light version but not many UK retailers seem to stock it.

Even if he wanted to go XFIRE that PSU is Overkill.

a good quality 500W PSU should do the trick, I am running my X6 1055T @ 3.8Ghz and the HD5970 @ 850/1200 and the TX650 can handle it more than fine Barely uses up to 500w ..

tell me bout it man, killer.

Thanks with that advice but i'm sticking with the corsair PSU. Its excellent for the price, reliable and don't need to worry about upgrading (for awhile anyway).
