how good is big typhoon - Page 2

Actually it is very good, and it comes with a very silent fan, however you can upgrade it to something much faster but there's no need. And as an above post stated, the temps are about 1 degree above ambient, thats insane for air! The only reason I went for the xp120 is because I was too lazy to take out my mobo to install it

It can be hard to install if you have not installed that type of HS before but with a little patients, its well worth it. I just dont like that fact i had to take apart the whole system just to install it.
BTW my temps on the 3700+ was 32c idle and didnt break 40c under load stock. with a 1.6v core it did not go over 43c. Not all that bad in my book.

The typhoon looks huge, the case I have may have an issue with its size. I have the Aspire X-Plorer with the "Intel recommended "Chassis Air Guide Design Guide"".

http://aspireusa.net/images/products...-BK-10_500.jpg

Its like an inch and a half from the stock processor fan to the blue thingymabober. Any one have an idea if it would fit?

Also, there is a new cooler out from Tuniq which showed to be almost exactly as good as the BT, and it also can be upgraded via the fan.

one amazing cooler. if you do plan on getting it make sure it will fit! You have good temps now, not really necessary unless you plan to OC really far

I have found the thermaltake Tower112 to be better then the BT, it doesn't blow the hot ait back on to the CPU and its all copper. Plus its a few dollars cheaper not that it really matters. And conviently you can fit the Vantec 92mm tornado which pushes more air then any 120mm fan i have ever seen.

Another benefit of the Big Typhoon is that it is DEAD silent, I defy you to hear this thing, seriously. Say that about a Tornado! (they're called tornadoes for a reason mate)

I use the tornado because i don't care about noise and I want the most air going through. You can remove the fan mount and as long as you have air moving through your case it still cools quite well. Anyways there are always silent fans but who needs silent when you can have 120cfm?

Mmmmm 120 Cfm....
