Breaking news, someone on the internet is repeating old jokes that they have no clue about. Let's break this down, despite the fact that it's been done thousands of times across the internet already. The Galaxy S line had froyo since I believe last October. You can thank your carrier for the late versions. The Galaxy S line is also the first current phone to have a leaked official gingerbread build. I repeat, the first gen galaxy S already has pretty early versions of official gingerbread that you can go out and flash tonight. The Galaxy S II line is also already on gingerbread. Any other incorrect statements?

I do'nt care, something with the samsung phones took forever. The OG Droid got Froyo earlier, and has older hardware. Verizon sure pushed it out a lot faster than the Vibrant...there had to have been other complications.

I have a clue. I have more than a clue. I do'nt care whose fault it is, but the GS devices took forever. I find it hard to believe that ATT, Verizon, AND T-Mobile were all dragging their heels THAT much.

Pretty much all phones have stable gingerbread builds now, what point are you proving? I had it very quickly.

If they weren't all dragging their heels that much, they how was it out for every non-US customer for quite some time? Interesting, that. I never said they were the first to get froyo, they were at the tail end of the update cycle. However, it's nowhere near as bad as the people who repeat stuff without thinking would have you believe, and you can thank the carriers.

You completely missed it. There is not a single official build floating around. Not talking about cyanogen mod here. So to say that the Galaxy S line is in the dust, it's already got an early official build. As in, made by samsung. You also are talking custom builds here. Samsung phones had custom froyo builds for quite a while.

To sum. The international Galaxy S has had froyo for a long time. Even the exact same phones on US carriers released by other carriers such as canadian carriers have had froyo for a long time. The other galaxy S phones have had leaked builds for a long time. Froyo's been there for a long time, the carriers just never released it for a long time. Samsung is the first to for sure prove that they are working on a gingerbread build for the last gen phones, rather than only CM and the like. Samsung Galaxy S II launches with gingerbread, and will definitely launch before mid-2012. Once again, your point holds no water.

I'm not meaning to bash Samsung, just merely pointing out that they do have a pretty crappy track record. If they push gingerbread out quickly, that's great.

Also, just to make sure you know, Tegra 2 phones don't run 2.3 (unless the manufacturer codes dual core support in like Atrix, Tbolt, LG). So the GSII probably won't. 2.3 doesn't support (properly anyway) dual cores. 2.4 (also Gingerbread) will out of the box. So unless they're farther along than i think, the GSII will probably launch with 2.4, not 2.3. IMO the best way for Samsung to get a big hitter like the OG Droid was is to be the first to the party. Unfortunately it looks like HTC and LG are going to be racing for that title, Samsung will be there shortly after, barring even more Thunderbolt delays.

Just so yoy know 2.4 is code named Ice Crean Sandwich. SGS2 will come out the box with 2.3 that's what they announced. 2.2 didn't come out fast in the states cause carriers didn't let it happen.

I learned a long time ago not to buy Samsung....my old innov8 was king of the hill in its days. There were minor issues that they refused to fix....same with every gen of high end phones they've put out. Omnia HD...where did that go!

Running a nexus one 2.3.3 on Rogers.
