Is the ThermalTake Golden Orb II any good?

Thread Starter
I just got the Golden orb for my D 920 and want to overclock it. I don't want to go to crazy but 3.5 Ghz would be nice.

ThermalTake Golden Orb II / Socket 939/754/775 / Copper Core / CPU Cooling Fan

thanks!

Supposedly the ThermalTake Golden Orb II has a rather disappointing performance. Keep in mind that the Orb's fan is only spinning at 1600 RPM and moves 35 CFM of air (from stats). Be sure to remove the thermal pad and apply decent thermal conductive material such as Arctic Silver 5+.

Thanks for the links! The company that I ordered my processor from made me order a fan with it, so I picked the Orb with out looking(doh). I'll give it a shot and see how I like it and if not i'll just replace it with somthing different. I dont' really wanna overclock my cpu to the limits but just squeez out a few hundered Mhz

You should be able to do that with this heatsink/fan combo.

With a good name fan you can sure squeeze a couple hundred megs no problem with a good fan...i see the XP-90 has been left behind and underestimated..i love it still
