Team Zang! (Team disbanded) - Page 33

Bad news... I hate to do this to you guys, but I cannot get a good luck streak going with this machine. It appears that my HDD has just gone AWOL, after I got the cooling.

I don't know why I've been having so many issues with this, but I'm not sure I'm the one to be #4 for Team Zang! I would love to be on a team, but if I cannot keep this machine running I don't want to let you guys down.

In conclusion.... If anyone is interested in a Pentium D, a 775 board (Conroe Ready), a SuSe ready NIC, Stock, and Aftermarket Cooling... shoot me a PM. I might be selling.

Sorry, guys... this thing is more than I can handle at the moment.

When my new PSU arrives (tomorrow or monday), hopefully I'll be able to get past the 2.64GHz I got with my crap Xion PSU. I also fold with a P3@1.28GHz.
Is the position still open?

I have 3 folding rigs. 2 are from work and I don't have the specs with me at the moment. However I believe they are both Pentium III's and fold about 8-12 hours per day, 7 days per week.

The other is my own in my sig and I fold 4+ hours per day, usually average 130+ ppd.

What is SMP?

don't leave the team! You guys won last month, showing you are being a winner!

We always have ups and downs. Franken had to lower his OC, and Cowboy's been down for weeks! With Jimmy and Vanilla, you guys make a great team

Hey you may not win, but you are top 5!

We are not here to go for the winning prize (bragging rights), we are here to fold for a cause, aren't we?

Keep folding and let team OC.net rise rise rise!

X2's or E6x00, they are 64-bit processors. They can use a virtual machine (loading another OS in windows) to run linux. Then you can use Folding@Home SMP version (which is only for 64bit linux) to fold. They are highly efficient, and can double the production. It also only has few kinds of WU, which promises high Points per Day.

The how-to can be found here:
http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...ng-vmware.html

They tend to not yield the CPU usages, so it will fight with windows.. thus will lag. If you can, run SMP and you will hit 1300ppd easy, and even 2000 ppd if properly overclocked.

Team Zang! had a glorious win last month, i would love to see what they can do with full 4 member team.!

I will set up Linux first then and mess around with SMP later. I will do regular folding in the meantime.

Thread Starter
I'm back, welcome to the team Jiggly. That's awesome that you have 3 rigs folding, however, only we only have room for 2 cpus on the team. So if you fold on both cores of the C2D, that should fill our team's 8 cpu limit. You can keep the extra rigs folding, you'll just have to fold on those machines with a different F@H username like Jigglylizard#2.

That's awesome that you're thinking about running the SMP client. That would give the team a helluva boost and give us a good chance of keeping in the top 3. Look at what Jimmy's E6300 can do. If you need help getting VMware, Linux, or SMP set up, you can ask Jimmy or I. Definately read the thread Chaogod linked in his last post. That thread basically covers everything.

Did anyone tell Taeric that we've changed our team configuration... again? I was looking at the latest results (we're 3rd!) and SteveMC was there...

And for JigglyLizard, you shouldn't do SMP unless you're confident that you can do at least 8h/day. The reason is that Stanford has very short deadlines for SMP folding (as little as 24h per unit) and though on your machine (E6300) you could probably whip up a unit in less than 9hours, spreading that over 2 days might mean you won't get the points for it.

If you were to fold SMP though, you could increase your points 3x for sure. Your call, we're just happy we have our final member in our team.
