Quick Question...

Thread Starter
And pretty much a newbie to overclocking. I did a benchmark test today and got a score of:
3DMark 05 Score - 5832
CPU Score - 5165

I just overclocked my graphics card today, so I'm still seeing how everything works. The temperature seems to idle around 55 degrees c. when in game play. I had called EVGA previously and they said as long as I don't reach 80 I'm fine. I was just wondering how good my 3DMark score is for the system I have. Can I make it any better with out installing more cooling?

Thanks,
Adam

That score seems right. If you get some more RAM, you would have a great gaming rig.

The GPU wont need aftermarket cooling as long as your case gets plenty of airflow, still, 55C is perfectly fine. You can push up the clocks to your max stable, and artifact free speeds, and if it is too hot, then either buy aftermarket cooling, or position a fan so it blows air on it.

Like I said, mine didn't even get hotter since I have several intake and exhaust fans.

But, you never know until you try.

It is slightly high, but not enough to worry about. When it hits 75C under load, then you should start to worry.

Most likely what will happen is voltage will be limiting you rather than cooling. I get artifacts around 550mhz because I don't have enough voltage... and my video chip is 48C.

Replace the stock thermal paste on the gpu fan with some AS5. Should make a fair difference in temps.

Ya, for a killer oc on nvidia cards aftermarket cooling is a must. This is not to say that you can't get a good one on stock cooling. I prefer to keep 'em under 70 dgrees centigrade full load. I am tired of frying cards ...
