So figured out my router issue but why?

Thread Starter
So a while ago i made a topic about wrt54g2 always kicking me off and having to unplug everything to get it to work again

after switching from wep to wpa it no longer does this.

the rep told me windows 7 does not support wep anymore and i should be using wpa?

or does windows 7 have some issues with wep routers that i am missing

the rep is lying, he has no clue why it wasn't working and just got lucky with the WPA.

i use WEP with 5 computers mixture of Windows 7, XP, and Vista

I used to have the same issue, regardless of security used. Updating the firmware fixed it on my v2.2. Though, you'll still need to power cycle every now and again. DD-WRT or Tomato would fix this issue, I think. I've been meaning to try it, but I'm too lazy to reconfigure my network right now.

I guess it was a sign to tell you to be more secure WPA should always be used now anyways, WEP is so easily hacked into.
