Fx 5500

Thread Starter
I have a FX 5500 OC right now but when i overclock it there seems to be little or no performance gain at all. Also is this the best card i can have for a PCI card becasue thats all my HP has . (BTW this one is PCI)

Edit: Nevermind both cards give same performace as the FX5500.

So your best bet is to save up and buy a motherboard that supports PCI-E or atleast AGP.

yes i agree save up and switch to pci-express or at least agp..but i used to have one and did ok with oc'ing it..i saw a little performance gain when overclocking do you have the bfg tech one? thats the one i had..riva did the trick and i actually got pretty good performance in fable when i was trying but any 6 series card is way better then that

the reason your not getting any gain in the extra overclock is the pci slot is bottlenecking from any more of preformance gain get pci-e or agp at least just leave the oc alone unless you dont mind burning that up sooner than normal

If your vga is PCI then you're done for. PCI-bus is really a bottleneck in your rig, just like mine. Maybe your 5500 is good (imho, better than my 5200 a little ), but you can't make it work with new agp mobo.

if you want to see an upgrade in performance upgrade your rig man there not much you can do about it..but you really see no upgrade? i saw a little with overclocking...and to linh1987, of course pci is a bottleneck..theres nothing much you can do with it at all..your 5200 is almost the exact same and can be flashed to a full 5500 also

I'm lucky here, man. My current AGP slot is running at PCI bus speed tho, so i can upgrade it to full AGP mobo without any trouble.
@Suthernkid: Maybe i'll try flash my 5200 this week, but after when my mobo is replaced ^^. Wish me luck
