I'd certainly recommend finding a fixed voltage for your CPU, as the AUTO setting isn't very reliable for overclocking. Hopefully it'll be solid now. smile.gif

Also, you might want to take a look in the log tab to see if you're actually still on the same, original WU. Its possible there was an error due to an unstable OC and it had to download a new WU, which might explain why you don't appear to be making much progress.

I did just as you recommended. I set my voltage to 1.4v, since that it a pretty common voltage for a 2600k, and I will see how it goes from here.

I also setup a VM using this tutorial here. I am running the VM under annonymous... 12 cores detected, and running an 8 thread WU. Do these screen shots look correct? It appears to be running, but the CPU usage under windows doesn't show any load, and neither do the CPU temps appear to be loaded either. That would lead me to believe something is wrong.

I am going to shut down the VM and continue my original WU, it should be done tonight. I appreciate any and all feedback.

Looks to me like you are just folding on one thread. Have you set the VM to 8 threads yet? also, if you want to fold -hugeadv you will have to give the VM at least 3gb ram as they use quite a bit.

Hmmm... I think you may be right about the single thread, but the screen shot (and running the VM now) shows that it is "starting 8 threads", but my CPU usage in windows shows 13% to VMware and CPU meter gadget shows what would be 1 core at 100% (but it rotates through the cores). I wonder if I did something wrong. I logged in as Anonymous, do I need to enter my name and pin # to do bigbig-adv?

You have to go there and set the core count to 4. After that go to that VMX file that I showed you in PM and edit that file to 8.

You are absolute right, I am only using 1 core. Here is the proof. If I was using 8, it would show 790% or something. I only get 100%

Ok,

That worked biggrin.gif, I am now at 50% CPU usage thumb.gif. I have having trouble finding the file you PM'd me about. For the life of me I cannot find my Ubantu directory in Windows 7.

I found VMware, but no sign of Ubantu.

Any suggestions?

It will be where you installed the VM. Do a search on your drive for Ubuntu 64-bit

UPDATE: Ah ha, it is in "My Documents" of all places. Ughhh.... Now to edit the file.

Now I need to find out how to edit my name from Anonymous and enter my passkey. I didn't do it because I heard you need to complete 10 units before starting bigbig-adv. But at least I have the VM ready to go. Now I will resume folding under windows. Once I finish the current WU, get my stats posted, and complete the bonus points, I will start folding under the VM.
