I think Elcuckos ppd is either luck, or he is getting better units due to having folded v7 for several months (BWG had that theory). He runs 5.0ghz and native Linux, so at best he should be 5-10% better than me, but he is actually over 50% better. I am hoping his kernel tweaks are responsible but I think it is unlikely. I will test them this Friday or Sunday. As Hertz pointed out, my ppd is definitely up over v6. My v6 numbers were artificially low since I spent a lot of run time trying to get v7 working right.
Regarding my VM, if I want to make changes, can I copy my VM to another drive, as a backup if you will, and then if don't like the changes just move the backup copy back over and overwrite the modified VM? That way if elchuckos tweaks mess it up, I don't have to reinstall it I can just copy over the unchanged backup. Will that work?
@ Hertz, you are doing a great job subbing in the wildcard cat, you are number 3 there. Great work! Are we officially recruiting a replacement for Jetpak? Any news on your new rig? I have to admit I like the alternate version of 12.04. Having no GUI makes it very simple. Installing the fah client takes two text entries. It is more like an application for folding that is either on or off than it is a separate operating system. Plus FAHControl in Windows integrates with it seamlessly. I could type up a tutorial for you if you want to do the same. It looks like it would boost your ppd by about 25-30%.
