SSD or Raid 0?

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I'm planning to upgrade my hard drive in a month or so and wanted to get some opinions. I have a single 500gb hard drive at the moment and am looking for either a SSD or another 500 gig for Raid 0. I have plenty of space at the moment, so basically my choice is either windows plus word, firefox, etc in a solid state drive or everything in raid 0. Specs of my rig in my sig. Thanks in advance.

If space isn't a problem and you have the money, go for the SSD.

Both.

SSD just for your OS and grab another 500GB to RAID / short-stroke with yours for programs + games etc

What WD drive - blue or black? You may get better read/writes with HDs in RAID 0 than with an SSD - but this alos depends on the SSD. SSDs have much better access times so everything will feel faster and be faster - OS boot, program opening etc. Best would be a couple of SSd in RAID0 - great read/writes and great access times.

Read http://www.overclock.net/ssd/679565-...uying-ssd.html

Its an SSD testimonial thread.

And my post in that thread, which sums up what i think of SSDs. http://www.overclock.net/ssd/679565-...l#post10483925

Basically, get an SSD, biggest upgrade you can do to a computer.

why buy a SSD and not put programs on it?

Don't skimp on the SSD. Get a nice 60GB+ one, if you can afford it. C300's are good, and Vertex 2's. (Sandforce)
