A8R32-MVP help !!!!!!!

Thread Starter
Ok well so those who read my previous post i asked if it was really worth getting the Asus A8R32-MVP Delux , personal opinion what the hell did asus do!!

I went out and bought the board , so fine i got the asus x1900xtx aswell , OMW , so after taking me most of the night to install windows , steam , office and all the other lil software .

I opened Counter Strike : Source , low and behold , i was better off with a 6600 GT than with the ATI , if i am lucky and on a non graphics intensive map i get a sum total of 40 FPS , with the nvidia i got @ least 80 :/

I have looked i am on the lastest Bios , cant be anything wrong with the windows load coz i reloaded it last night , i have no idea what 2 do ??

could someone please give me a idea ?

Thats a monster you have there except for the cpu. I agree, it may be a bottleneck. The 1900 series are blazing fast cards. With that mobo and 2 gb of ram you should have really decent performance. Again, though checks your drivers and bios updates first.

Going from nvidia to ati you have to make sure you have your CCC settings correct, the driver settings are different so there is no apples to apples here. Also, it's GOT to be a setting, there is NO way the X1900XTX is getting less fps than a 6600gt with the eqivillent settings.

If you planning on getting another card and going dual-GPU you gonna need a better CPU. running 2 cards puts extra load on the CPU.

yeah i know D: i need a new CPU i was thinking of going 4 a dual core next as for drivers and the CCC , i have a friend thats a HUGE ati fan and he has check and double checked everything .

i updated all the drivers , updated the bios to a 0311 which is the latest on Asus's site and still no diffrence , i also flashed the bios with a 0311 beta which , i read about on another forum , same problem , it seems only to do it 4 a while and then it comes right :/ but havnt played long enuff 2 really make sure :/ still some problems there

I am acctually thinking that i should go for a nVidia board now seeing that there is a lot of ppl thats having the same problem with the same board , for sum the bios update works for others it doeznt , there is rumours however that asus might not be able to fix this problem with only a bios update , and that there might have 2 be a new revision board brought out

I've come to the conclusion that no matter how cutting edge you want to be with a new build or upgrade, NEVER go with a brand new mobo, I got stung bad snatching up the DFI Expert thinking I was doing right and turns out it has a serious issue with TCCD ram (which I was carrying over from a previous build) and cant get the ram to run 270 and any kind of sane timings which I know this ram can do. I managed reasonable settings on a smal divider and am happy with the board and my oc, I just won't be buying a new mobo until it's been out long enough to hear this kind of issue discussed and/or fixed or whatever.

Well that sux cuz I was thinking about XFire and this looked like a good board and I really want to go with ASUS becuase they are midrange overclockers and I don't want the MSI's or be too advanced with DFI's
