Computer messed up - won't POST

Thread Starter
Ok I have not changed anything on my comp in the past week except upped my RAM voltage from 1.8 to 2.0.

This morning my comp started smelling like something was cooking wich I thought at the time was lunch(mind you it was left on all night ok as usual), 15 mins later my comp switched off, as I stepped out of my room I realised the smell was comming from my computer, I took apart my comp, found out the smell was defenetly coming from the PSU.
I put in my new PSU and the comp failed to POST after saying the CPU and 2 SATA HDDs were OK.

So I went to the shop and got a budget MSI AGP motherboard hooked that up with some budget RAM. I powered it up, my mouse powers on, Im asuming my CPU and HDD power on OK, but before my LG screen gets out of power saving mode my comp switches off just like before, I dont know *** this could be except CPU and if the CPU is screwed then I hope my HDDs arnt screwed aswell.

Can someone please tell me whats going on, atm I fear for my HDD data.

My new PSU was the 1st thing I replaced as soon as the problem occured, I have peiced together a system Im using now wich includes a sempron 3000+ another(not the cooked one) Tt 430W, 18amp PSU
and my old Windows XP HDD from last year, I tried booting off my SATA drive but it has GRUB wich errors, Im asuming my data is ok it just cant boot because the boot data isnt on the bios, Im gonna try figure out how to get SATA working on this comp as a 2nd HDD, and Im just gonna return my CPU.

AFAIK, my PSU and CPU are fubar, not the motherboard, not the HDDs not anything else.

This is my configuration of things that work and dont work

new psu: Cant get into bios, cant pass POST
new motherboard and new PSU: cant get into bios, cant pass POST

new CPU and 3rd motherboard: GRUB starts with error due to absense of bios configuration.

Im gonna haveto start searching on how to boot grub without the bios incase my motherboard is screwed, so you reckon it is HardwaterH4ck3r?
btw "my data is ok it just cant boot because the boot data isnt on the bios"
I was refering to the AMD mobo bios.

Went to the shop today, they confirmed the CPU was dead and said intel will replace it, I also got my 2ndary SATA HDD checked and its ok, so all seems to be good.
