You would actually have slightly better performance, because the HTT and RAM would be running much faster than they would on the FX57 with its 14x multiplier. However, the FX series are easier to overclock, because they have unlocked multipliers.
hmm..true...but still i would never pay such a large amount for a processor...i just think it is way to much for a small sqaure chip...for me 250 quid is the absoloute maximum for a cpu...and thats still pushing it.....in the uk 3700sd's are going for 150 quid now which i think is the best price for performance right now...im definitly picking one up!

Um, doesn't the hypertransport bus run at the clock speed of the processor on an FX?

yep... sandy 3700+ at 2.8Ghz beats FX57's stock speed in performance wise. when FX57 OC'ed, there is no way a sandy can match.

you can compare your results from benchmarks to other highend computers' score.

when my old sandy OC'ed, my cpu scores beat all CPU on that chart. but you have to note that those scores are "stock". basically all CPU OC'ed could match the performance with their high end brothers.

Actually, Clock for clock, the 3700+ beats the FX57, again, because the HTT and RAM are running so much faster. (Unless you're running on a divider, of course)
