What do I do after I "piece" the computer together?

I am currently DBANing my desktops HDD. My computer was getting slower and slower untill it would not recognize the gpu driver so i just decided to start anew. This time i want to ensure I do everything properly.

So, my question is what do i need to do to properly setup the software side of my computer. As of now this is what I would do:
1)install windows
2)install mouse driver
3)install monitor driver( or the disc that came with it)
4)dload catalyst 10.5 and install for GPU driver

are there things I am missing or other things I need to update? I just want to make SURE i am handling the software side of building properly because TBH i am not certain of what I am doing.

That's pretty much it.

Although I doubt the monitor itself needs an actual driver installed.

You can install chipset drivers. Always a plus.

If you are setting up for Windows XP then right after install put the UAA Bus driver on there before you do anything else. Trust me.. You will be so happy that you did.

i'm installing window 7 64 bit. And i heard about the chipset drivers, mine is the x58 chipset i believe.

ok well i'm glad to see i'm not missing anything, it really did seem too simple, like i had to be missing something.

lso, are chipset drivers as finicky as the ATI gpu drivers? should i worry about the version?
