Steel Series Xai.. - Page 16

Someone had posted a graph in another thread comparing different mouse pads. I can't seem to find it and was wondering if any of you knew of it. Basically, I have a destructor right now, but the pad itself's gritty and may be tearing up my mouse feet. So I'm wondering what the best mouse pad would be for an Ikari Laser.

EDIT: Took the Xai back. If the mouse doesn't fit my hands, the sensor doesn't matter.

How would I go about testing this exactly? I'm on Linux and I only have low resolution monitors near me.

Dunno? Maybe lower the sensitivity even lower to make up for it? And even if you hit the screen-edge, I guess you'd still be able to recognize the phenomenon, since it leads to the cursor staying in one area pretty much... Hard to explain but you'll instantly realize what I mean once it happens...

I can't lower the sensitivity in an easy way in Linux - doing so will require me to install alternative device drivers.
Only mouse acceleration is easily configured, but I always have that disabled anyway.
So the only way I can do this is by hooking up some big monitor or going into some sort of game that does not use cursor-based aim.

I use an MX518 on my desktop and a steelseeries kinzu on my laptop, and i quite like it, their sensors are similar, the kinzu is lower but grips just as well, it's a good mouse overall

I totally missed the fact that you were bouncing the mouse between two screens to have it act like that. I only have a single screen and I couldn't get mine to behave like that, sorry.

Now that I have both the Xai and the G500 I can finally confirm a few things that certain people deny.

1. The Xai behaves very similarly to the G500, they have the same sensor after all. Can't get it to skip or produce any negative acceleration on a hard pad (4HD) but has negative acceleration on a cloth pad (Qck). It isn't as bad as the G500 but the Xai's maximum control speed is still lower than the deathadder on a cloth pad. Yeah that old optical mouse released in 2006 for half the price of a Xai which also has no problems with positive acceleration.

2. The Xai feels like it has more positive acceleration compared to the G500 for some reason.

Because of the shape, weight, sensor position and low lift off distance the Xai is a MUCH better mouse compared to the G500. But I'm still not happy with the sensor.

I really wish I could just buy a kinzu with the deathadders sensor equipped with Zowies nifty lift off distance lowering lense. It would be perfect and I could stop wasting money on mice.

Old adder or new adder? I couldn't get comfy on the first one for the same reason the xai bugged me...that high hump in the back. The Ikari's about as high as I can go. Although the MX518 never bothered me. But you guys are saying skip the G500?

Just from reading all of your comments, I don't think the +/- accel affects my jv fps skills.

Derp: The 2 screens have nothing to do with it... It's just a bit more room to "get up to speed"...

But I feel it in game, say Quake 3, if I do a snap-180° Turn...

Yeah, I'd have preferred the form of the Kinzu also, but the sensor made me go for the XAI...

Why the hell can't ANYBODY build a perfect mouse? I started with the original Boomslang nearly 10 years ago and tried LOADS since... Nothing that's perfect or even approaching perfect...

I hope you don't see me as one of them because I only deny that my Xai has neg. accel. on cloth pads.

Perfect would be subjective in that case.
But I know what you mean and the answer on that would be a bit complicated.
