in all seriousness this mouse is pretty awful

get an EC1 or EC2 if you like this style and dont want low dpi like WMO or whatever

Every product has its faults. Find me a mouse with abosolutely NO faults and prefect sensor. Its stupid how everyone keeps mocking products because they have small failures. Everything has...

I have tested my Xai and I can definately say that the mouse is incapable of changing DPI in increments of 1. The XAI works only in 90 DPI steps regardless of what you set your ExactSense on. So for example any value in between 360 and 449 DPI is in fact the same DPI setting.

Can some XAI owners confirm that:
a) setting DPI to any value in between 360 and 449 results in the exact same movement distance (in any FPS game)
b) switching between 449 DPI and 450 DPI causes a large movement distance difference?

Yes to both, I was actually wondering the same thing a few months back and when I tested it, it was pretty obvious. I didn't have precise tools to test it but it didn't take precise tools to notice that the difference between 449 DPI and 450 DPI was huge.

The Xai will take the previously lowest 90 step increment, so as you said if you take 449 DPI, it's actually 360. If you take 500 DPI it's really 450 and so on. While this isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, it's pretty annoying that the DPI steps really aren't 1-step increments and rather the default 90-step increment that comes default on the 9500.

This isn't such a big deal, but still... that does not justify SS lying to their customers about a certain feature that this mouse doesn't have. Although i play mostly FPS games (where imho the DPI doesn't actually matter), I was looking forward to this feature for RTS games where it's super useful. I would use it even if it was only software interpolation. Shame.

Can other people confirm this as well?

I did a quick test, moving the mouse between two fixed points, using Paint Shop Pro to measure the distance the cursor moved in pixels.

I got +- 420 pixels from CPI 100 to 179. CPI 180 gave me 620 pixels. That's proof enough for me.

Couldn't care less though - Still LOVE the mouse! applaud.gif

The Xai works best in intervals of 90 CPI by the way.

You can check the spec sheet for the ADNS-9500. It only really supports setting the DPI in increments of 90. On the Xai, specifically, it's interpolated.

Xai doesn't have DPI interpolation function! Why do you guys keep repeating false information? Please test it for yourself- regardless of what you set the DPI on, Xai will round this value down to the nearest multiply of 90. It doesn't matter if you set the XAI to 360 or 449 DPI. It's the same amount of DPI.

Steelseries marketed this mouse as being capable of 1 DPI increments. From my tests and what iamgiGGlz has wrote it's bull****. Xai (at least current 1.4.2 version) doesn't have software or hardware capability of 1DPI increments. Please check before you spread disinformation.
