NO!!! that psu won't cut it! I had a 500w Aspire psu and it couldn't run this system:
3200+ venice
Asus A8B-SLI deluxe
1gb RAM
6600GT SLI
SB Audigy2 zs gamer
2x optical drives
2x SATA drives in RAID 0
6x case fans

My system would be fine as long as I kept my cpu at stock speeds and only had 1 6600GT, but as soon as I tried to OC or add a second gfx card my system would become unstable and when monitoring my voltages the rails would jump all over the place, out of spec clearly indicating the psu couldn't handle the load. I upgraded to my Seasonic S12-600 and haven't had a problem since (even w/ all the upgrades I've done since then)

I wouldn't get anything less than a sunbeam nuuo 550w for your friend. it will cost about $85 shipped.

He's not going to overclock.... plus you have an SLI going which all he's going to have is one 7900gt....plus power supply calculator said he needs under 400 watts....

it doesn't matter. Like I said as soon as I added a second 6600GT or tried to OC my cpu (mild oc from 2Ghz to 2.4 keeping stock voltage) my system would become unstable, which signifies that the psu was barely able to keep up w/ my stock system... and the system he's looking at building is better than the one I had, which would require more power. I don't want to say yes, and have him run into the same problem I did.

yes, 400w is necessary, but for a 7900GT I wouldn't fee comfortable w/ anything less than 450w. and I had a 450 FSP psu that was more powerful than my Aspire. a 500w Aspire is probably about equal to a 300w Enermax, Antec, or Seasonic. yeah, the psu I had was rated at 34a on the 12v rail... should have been more than enough for my system, but it wasn't

My 520 watt Aspire does fine in my rig, but then again I'm running 2 PSUs.
The PSU won't cut it for a 7800GT, let alone a 7900GT.
And why is he getting a 3700 if he isn't going to overclock it?
2.2GHz is NOT ENOUGH for a 7900GT.

Nope, I made a hole in the front of my case, and stuck a switch there, and attached the switch to my secondary PSU.

A 2.2ghz 3700+ won't bottleneck a 7900gt. A P4 660 would be more likley to bottleneck that card at stock settings. As long as a PSU is atleast 500W with a minimum of 24amps on the 12V rail you should be fine.

Personally, I would recommend 34+ for future proofing.
