You must be doing it wrong. Where are you installing the client? You need to run a dyndns client on ONE of your machines at home.

He would still need to point the domain name at his dynamic IP address. (I have a subdomain (home.mydomain.com) as a CNAME to my dnsdns address... it works the same, but it's just prettier)

smp.mydomain.com

How long did it take you guys to find your first diamonds (that u could mine)? I have just found my first diamonds, just enough to make a single pick axe (so now I can mine obsidian). I am probably close to ten hours in.

Im not finding a lot of iron. Im barely getting iron faster than I use it up.

i have it installed on only one computer, my main one, on the default location.

this is the process i have made:

-downloaded minecraft_server.exe
-joined dynDNS.com
-registered a hostname.dyndns.org
-installed dynDNS client

still no connection.(trying it from my computer).

if i give my friends my external ip, it does work.

where could i be doing it wrong?

diamons usually are between levels 0-16 (from the bedrock), hit F3 key and at the top left it will show you your location, use that as a guide.

you should set up a mine instead of just looking for ore on caves, i believe its more effective.

Check the client, it should have a log and tell you if it's having problems. (Feel free to PM me if you have more issues so we don't turn the MC thread into dyndns-support thread. )

I swear, every time I convince myself to start playing minecraft again I spend a day or two in a server building and have a bit of fun, then something will happen, most recently the server I was in somehow reset back to maybe a few hours after I started playing and erased all of my work and I just dont have it in me to try and redo all of the hours of work I just lost. When things like this occur that whole 'Oh yeah, now I remember why I keep quitting this game' feeling comes back strong.

Singleplayer Is pointless in my opinion, I really wish the developers would make this game more stable on the multiplayer side.
