Is anyone here using a 512x512 texture pack and if so, how are you getting them to work? I tried using one, and keep getting "Out of Memory" errors after less than a minute.

Tried using a batch file to allocate RAM to javaw.exe in increments of 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13GB and it crashed every time. Here's my Task Manager pegged at 13GB (literally seconds before it crashed again):

minecraft isn't designed for that type of stress. Its using all that RAM and is still probably running on only one CPU core. Plus Minecraft tends to rely more on CPU and RAM than GPUs so I doubt its fully utilizng that 560 of urs. 512x512 is just way too over kill for minecraft, it doesn't even look good IMO, I would downgrade.

the best texture pack I've seen is 64x64, its OVO's rustic pack, check it out

I can run a 256x256 texture with no issues, but the 512x512 looked so good. Damn. Switched back to the 256, it'll just have to do until I get 192GB of RAM

I started playing singleplayer survival and was wondering what kind of traps should I put around my house to get rid of spiders, creepers, skellies and zombies?
