well im going to take a 40gb ide hard drive for now cause im out of my budget , whats a good satisfied brand that wont die out on me , like lastable ..

Western Digital ones are good....link in a second

Not the fastest thing in the world, but probaly your best bet for a cheap HD.

Western Digital - have been using them for 9 or more years, no major issues to date.

Western Digital are the long lasting HDD'S out there. Dont get a Maxtor as they generally die at times for no apparent reason.

Couldn't have said it any other way. I only have one Maxtor HDD and thats because it came with my mom's prebuilt gateway and I need it for storage, just crossing my fingers it don't crap out on me.

You might as well put in the extra 15-20 bucks and get an 80gig or 160. Not too much more exopensive.
