LAN Game stream?

Hi all,

I have a problem. I use a crappy PC conected to a 40" TV for films and downloads, and have my personal pc (the sig one) in my room which I use to play games. My problem is that I would like to be able to play Mafia II in my 40" 1080p TV but it lags with the crappy PC, so is there a way to stream the gameplay from the high-end PC to the TV one and be able to play it in the TV at nice settings?

I've seen something like streammygame.com but the youtube videos show some lag and not 1080 streaming, I have both PCs connected with a wireless-N network, always at 100% signal.

Thank you !!

connect the computer to the big TV with a long HDMI or vga cable. any streaming WILL cause lag, and the crappy computer being crappy will make any lag worse from the streaming.

Yeah that'd be the easy way, but I can't do that.

My rig sits in an AV Cupboard. DVI link goes to the living room LCDTV (40") and the optical audio goes from my Auzen Forte to my 5.1 Amp. Thats about a 5meter run. I then have an HDMI cable go to my office along with the analogue 5.1 audio outputs from the forte to my HPA2 headset. This is about a 10meter run. This works perfectly for me and means I have the option to either game or watch a movie in either location. If my son is watching in the night garden I can still use the PC at the desk. Took a while to get everything sorted and the cable management was a pain but well worth it.
As for streaming your output you could potentially use a long HDMI or DVI cable as I have but be mindful of cable management aswell as distance. Originally I used a 20meter HDMI cable and it wasn't stable. My PC output was borked over that distance. I tried a 15meter and the problem was slightly better but still not acceptable (intermittent dropouts). 10meters and I was golden. Of course I had to run in USB extenders as I wanted to use a G15 keyboard and MX518 mouse, so bear that in mind too.
Your other option (which I haven't tried) is to use an HDMI to CAT5e extender. I know they work great for TV outputs and I see no reason why a PC signal should differ.

Sometimes putting cable through walls and under floorboards can be a bit daunting or initimidating but its actually not as complicated as it looks. If you plan well the runs are never that far (unless you live in a huge house). When I had my house renovated I never planned to install a projector (school boy error!) and when I did later purchased one I had no solution for the cabling. Instead I bought all the cables I needed and might ever need and braided and socked them all together into one loom. Whenever I want to use the projector I just whip out the loom and pop it into whichever HDMI source I need to see.

Long story short you could always get a long cable. Bring it out to play on your big TV. Put it away again when your done. The beauty of HDMI if you have 5xxx series or Fermi GPU is it will carry your game audio too.

This, it would be the easiest way to get good performance AND on the big tv.

EDIT: no, i read that wrong. i thought it meant bring the computer to the TV. if he got a huge cable, he would need long USB (over 16 feet wouldnt work) to get his periphs (mouse/keyboard) to the TV as well.
