Well with all the things that when on this weekend (flodding of the basemant, St. Patrick partys, and a class im taking) the computer didn't get done. And tonight i won't be home much either (Ballet and Girl Scouts(not me my daughter but i have to drive her around)). so its not up and running yet. in the process of routing the hoses for the water cooling around everything.

so thats the update now the questions should i run the Windows with the VM Ware or run Linux. I've never ran Linux and don't know much about it but i do run UNIX at work and i heard its similar. I have another seat licence for windows XP but where do i go for Linux?

well, I mean which OS you run is up to you. If you are going to be gaming at all i wouldn't run linux but if it's just a general purpose machine linux can be great. they did release a windows smp client however I don't think it's working very well yet. I'll get a link to ubuntu 64-bit for ya it's prolly your best bet for beginner linux. I'll also link you to instructions on setting up the client in linux and you can prolly find the vmware guide here on ocn in the main folding section by bdatillo.

here's how you setup the FAH client in ubuntu 64-bit.

First,
Open the terminal.
type - apt-get install ia32-libs
After the install is complete close terminal and open a new one.

Next,
type - cd Desktop (enter)
type - mkdir folding (enter)
type - cd folding (enter)
type - wget http://folding.stanford.edu/release/FAH_SMP_Linux.tgz (enter)
type - tar xzf FAH_SMP_Linux.tgz (enter)
type -sudo ./fah5 (enter)

Finally, type your password, and then setup the FAH client.

here's a link where to DL it. be sure to select 6.10 desktop edition > 64 bit AMD/intel > then the area closest to you.

I just read some posts about windows SMP and seems like the Linux is somewhat faster. If you don't mind laggy computer (VMware doesn't yield cpu usage, so you are left with about 10% of cpu power to do things..) and 512MB of ram taken by running vmware, i strongly suggest you run VMware and Linux. If you need help with it. i will put on a concise guide (the one Franken showed me few months ago). Hopefully your days get less busy.

Your SMP participation isn't as urgent anymore, seems like two members of folding fury are having problem. And i am chucking out 1760's every 20~22 hours, take your time. Afterall your family and house is much important

Lemme get some info's together so i can give you a simple concise guide!

This is Franken’s post for me dated at 1-30-07

Follow this:
http://forums.extremeoverclocking.co...d.php?t=245911

then this:
http://forums.extremeoverclocking.co...d.php?t=245511

The trick will be in understand some very minor LINUX issues. For instance. When you open a terminal window to do dos-like operations, you always start in your home directory. Everything is case sensitive and executing a program requires relative pathing: ./{executable}.

If you have any questions. Let me know. If you want it even easier...follow this excellent faq:
http://www.overclock.net/overclock-n...ng-vmware.html

The steps will allow you to fold SMP in Ubuntu in VMware.

If you follow the first link, it will basically tell you how to get VMware and install it in a proper manner. Then you will have to search for Ubuntu (google it or something for 64-bit version) then mount it as CD. This step is shown in baddtillo’s guide, which is the third link.

1)edit virtual machine
2)CD-ROM
3)Use ISO, and mount Ubuntu.

Afterwards, you can follow Cowboy’s steps, though they are slightly different from my approach but I am sure that will work.

First,
Open the terminal.
# this is under accessories, it took me 5 minutes to find where the terminal was ahhaa.
type - apt-get install ia32-libs
After the install is complete close terminal and open a new one.

Next,
type - cd Desktop (enter)
type - mkdir folding (enter)
type - cd folding (enter)
type - wget http://folding.stanford.edu/release/FAH_SMP_Linux.tgz (enter)
type - tar xzf FAH_SMP_Linux.tgz (enter)
type -sudo ./fah5 (enter)

Finally, type your password, and then setup the FAH client.

I don’t know what sudo or ia32-libs. I fold without them, and it worked fine.

Hopefully this will get you started, and good luck!

Lets hit 200k next month!

Will be 4 from owners by April. I am climbing up there in few days. Toobadd should be up and running by this coming weekend. Let the owners break 200k barrier!

i stated that part of that summary was from you. Most of it is taken from others.

Anyway, i dreamed about Accidentally turning in WU's into my name, so i will have 4 Cores... Then getting disqualified, and losing this month's competition.. This is really getting into my brain :O need to get out more ahaha.

EDIT: Just wanted you to know the current race against Folding Fury, Lets keep it up!

hey, i was just thinking we should have a little "fun" next month. We should all let our last WU finish on the 31st (the last one that will finish before the new month starts) and at exactly 12am april 1st (we'll decide which timezone later) we should all start our folding and see what the points look like for the month of april lol... just a thought... i'm bored...

Aim for 220k? I think i can hit 50k, Franken and Cowboy should hit 60k. I doubt Toobadd will score any lower than 50k. I think we have a chance at 220k.

Sounds fun to me, How about the rest of you?

I will have few days of downtime in May because i will be moving to different place and might not have internet right away. Just to let you know.
