WinSMP beta came out mid March. Linux SMP still gets better points from what I've read, but I'm not sure how many. I should pull between 50-60k per month with WinSMP on my main folding rig.

It runs smooth for me even while I'm playing games. It does run cooler than Linux SMP if that's an issue, and it's a lot less hassle for me.

WinSMP is slower because the client's core is only 32 bit. Linux SMP runs a 64 bit core. That's why it's better to run VMWare/Linux on Windows than running WinSMP. If you notice, Linux SMP requires a x64 distro, where the x64 version of XP or vista is not required for WinSMP.

Does that mean if you run a Windows x64 OS, it will fold faster? Everything that could went wrong when I tried Linux, a bit too complicated for me. Whatever happened to that guy that was going to make an Linux install program just for folding? That's the one I need!

Did your ram come in yet Franken? It's hard to believe you can still get any more speed out of that rig, you must keep it in the refrigerator.

No, it will not fold faster because the WinSMP client core is still 32 bit. Which if it's like any other 32 bit program, it will run a little slower in the 64 bit OS. But, that doesn't mean they won't come out with a 64 bit client for XP x64 or vista x64. I'm sure it will come out someday, maybe when vista x64 is more popular.

Your doing great Cowboy!

It's nice to have everyone folding now. We are going to end up with a great score concidering I wasn't folding the first week and you were down for 2. I think we are still in the race for first place even, we still have a week to go!
