Awesome TooBadd, and we still have a week of competition to go! July should be a record in our team points, somewhere over 200k for sure!

Now I HAVE to get Ubuntu going, I'm the only one on the team now who isn't running it. If I can find time this week, I'll try and get it going. It will be interesting to see the difference in points.

I can think of one question right off the bat, KDE or Gnome? Does Ubuntu even ask? I'm going to run Linux on a seperate hard drive so I can run it native (Best points).

Thanks for the spreadsheet TooBadd!

It is a truly guilty pleasure to scream past everyone to first place and laugh maniacally. Yesssss, standing on a hill of skulls, drinking from a golden chalice filled with the blood of our enemies!

{SNORT} Wha?

Sorry, I was dream typing again.

Hey Franken,

Nice poetic writing of sorts:

"It is a truly guilty pleasure to scream past everyone to first place and laugh maniacally. Yesssss, standing on a hill of skulls, drinking from a golden chalice filled with the blood of our enemies!"

You are a poet and don't know it, but your feet show it, and they are Longfellows! he,he,he

Just had to add that! Thanks for letting me on your thread, and on your teams thread...

On the upside, My rig is so stable after replacing the Wi-fi card, it's unreal.
Goes to show you, every single piece of hardware can be a devastating weak link.

Downside? I put a "Kill-A-Watt" device on my folding rig and measured 10KW / day.
In CA that can equate to roughly 75$ a month, or 300KW/month.

It's not the 75$ that freaks me out. It's the 300KW. CA supplies energy on a logarithmetic sliding scale. It starts at a measly .08c / KW and goes way up to 30c/KW depending on the total KW usage per month in only 4 steps.

So, my folding rig could be costing me WAY more than 75$ a month by pushing me into the 25c or 30c bracket.

So, reality is this. I'm replacing every energy hog in my house just to curb the 300$ a month electricity bill. For one month, I may kill my folding rig to see what kind of effect it has. I promise I won't do that before the end of July so we can show our nuclear superiority to the "norms" out there (Come on! Sling it back at me!!!! I double dare ya!!!). Just be prepared for me to take a month off peeps.

That's ok, I think we have some breathing room.

Yes, anytime Buick. Although I think of it more as a marathon run (26 miles - 30 days - close enough). As the finish line comes into view and the rest of the team running beside you look back to see how close the next team is.

I think Franken has been playing too many games lately, oh wait...I think I remember that one!

Oh yeah, we just get our rigs going full speed and now you're worried about your bill?

You have all the numbers to the equation except for the steppings? That would be easy to get and finish the math. Now if you just want a month off to play, that would be understandable.

$75 a month does seem really steep, especially since we are donating to a worthy cause. There has to be a way to deduct it off our taxes. I have rigs 3 running 24/7 right now (Soon to be 10 cores +/-) and my bill didn't jump half that amount. Guess that's the price you pay to live in Disneyland.
