So I have to ask Taeric, why do you say your last milestone? My G0's run between 3.4Ghz (Cheap HS) and 3.6Ghz. I keep them ~60c which I figure is running in the "Yellow zone" up to 65c. I have one that runs in the mid 50's at 3.6Ghz so I may try a little more with that one soon. It's really amazing to hit these speeds on air, I'm lovin it!
Hi compaddict,

I think taeric's last milestone will be passing Knitelife and being #1 at OCN...
My guess is that when he passed Renegade5399 for the 10th spot last year, his competitive juices were lit... Everything else, is as they say, ~history!

And BTW - you guys had better get going. I think Smirnoff is taking this seriously! Where's TooBad by the way?? He has not completed a WU in a month...

Well take care and Fold On! :-)

Yeah, I figured that's what he meant. I was just saying even if he does get passed up one day, things can change around pretty quick these days and he might find himself right back in it down the road. I doubt that I will ever see #1, in fact I'm sitting at #28 right now and that will be tops for me by the looks of it. There is a lot of red behind me. I used to be on the top 20 a lot too but it's filled up with faster folders now, and that's ok.

OCN has shifted into another gear this past month, we will soon be #28 and that's a good thing. I was amazed we put up over 1,360,000 points last week! Holy cow, that's something!

So in the end it's a team effort. You, me and everyone here putting overclocking to good use and I'm happy to be part of it.

Very Nice

Are you still running at 3.6Ghz or ? Running VMware or doing the affinity trick with WinSMP?

Where are you TooBadd?

I'm running VMware at 3.6 if i get ambitious I may try to go higher because I am sure i can go higher.

So I tip my hat to you!

I don't really know how I'm going to feel passing QMopar.... He and you are such icons. My goal was 2 million by years end. I never thought that would mean passing Q at the same time.
You've only been folding about six months less than I have, so you know what it takes to fold over the long haul. SMP has really revolutionized the way folding farms are managed. Quantity used to rule, but it's all about quality these days. Any one of my systems now can easily outpeform my entire farm from a year ago, and I had several solid computers for the time going.

My initial goal was simply to break into the top 25, which wasn't too difficult back in the days when P4s ruled the field with the old QMD cores. I sat at one place, I think 18th, for four or five months at one point. Early this year, I bought two C2Ds and started shedding older tech. Eventually I got up to 3 C2Ds and had a couple of other systems going. I swapped out one for a X3210 B3. A Q6600 followed, and I was able to pull a 2 for 1 (sell two systems off to finance one) deal to build a third quad. I'm down to only one older system now that I will hopefully be selling off shortly. I'm only doing a couple hundred points per day on that one, so the relative cost in terms of electricity is high compared to the quads.

I never really had aspirations of making a run for the top, but things just shook out that way. When I first broke 4k ppd, I had a pretty strong lead on the pack in terms of daily production and really started to move up the ranks. I had Q in my sites at one point, and then Knitelife showed up and made his unprecedented run to the top (his 600k+ month record will likely stand for a long time). He narrowly beat me to second place by just a couple of hours. Eventually I upgraded to all quads and Knitelife disappeared for whatever reason, allowing me to start making up ground. I would have preferred to keep his contributions both in terms of points and leadership within our folding forum than have a shot at hitting number one myself.

This is pretty much my shot at sitting at the top as barring winning the lottery or receiving an inheritance from some unknown rich person, I won't have the available cash to continue to compete at the highest levels. I'll probably further consolidate my gear in the future as increasingly more cores find their way on to CPUs. I can't see ever going below two systems - one for gaming and general use (and folding, of course) and one running whatever folding setup is most efficient.

Hi taeric,

Agreed on all of the points you made. It was never my intention to be #1 or anything like that... I'm glad Wicked Pixie showed up. As for me it's about the goals I set for myself.
I like good solid steady runs with no mess or fuss. I've overclocked a few rigs, but steady and dependable is what I want. Most of my rigs in the early going were as cheap as I could get. Now after upgrading some, they are top notch. Some folders would kill to have Quads, X1950XTX's and Conroes.... I think I'm set for now and Thanks for all of your work!

Take care and Fold On!

BTW - Sorry Owners for using up your team thread for idle folding chatter.

after maxing fsb termination, NB, SB and MCH volts. I am able to boot windows @ 3.83 with vcore 1.5 (bios) however after raising the vcore to 1.5375 I can not stay in windows longer than 45secs... however I'm running Prime95 @ 465x8 right now hopefully it's stable. I think in order to get windows to run at 3.8+ i need to volt mod my board
