So, I did some research on 975x VS 965x...and the 965 IS the way to go if you want highbandwidth RAM. 975 base speed is 667 like I said...965 is 800.
So, on the Foxconn, I was "hatin" because of reports about the brand. That was unjust. The reality is...my RAM SPD module reports it as 4-4-4-5 at 1000mhz. At 667 mhz, that kind of tight timing is no big deal. At 800mhz it becomes a problem. If I adjust the timings down to 5-5-5-12, I can OC the CPU to 4.5ghz and the ram to nearly 900mhz. But, I'm not sure which is better...very tight timings or high speed. So, I let it ride at 4.170mhz and 820mhz on the RAM (roughly). At least until I get my new mainboard.
One of the cool things the Foxconn can do is dynamically adjust all the speeds and voltages inside Windows without rebooting. That's pretty slick.
