Will all of the hardware be compatable with vista?

AND, how long will vista take to be de-bugged?

In my opinion, I think mr. edy shouldn't wait. He's a college student, running a 2year old computer, trying to play battlefield 2. He upgraded his ram to the ocz plat. ram *2gig kit pc4000* and is wanting to build a new system. The problem is.... is it worth it to build a new system now? = better gaming, and everything, OR should he wait for vista? AND when vista comes out, will all of his new parts he guys going to be useless?

IN MY OPINION......
build the computer now, upgrade in a year *most people upgrade every 6 months* then if he needs to upgrade again after vista has been de-bugged and everything.

any other opinions?

Build your rig, and forget about Vista for a while. It'll take 6months to a year for MS to debug everything anyway, so it's not wise to wait for the latest OS.

Vista is just a MEMORY HOG with glitz that uses 3/4 a Gig of memory.
The current 939s with true 32/64 bit and a killer vid card will do you well.

Don't wait, there's no point. Things will always get better and fast. New O/S's will always come out. If we all waited till the next big thing we would not have rigs to start with. Buy the parts you want now and enjoy them, then sell em and upgrade.

I would add you'd be a lot better with a A64 X2 3800 and a 7900GT, and these will be fully compatible with the Aeroglass interface in Vista.

Would a 6800LE unlocked and overclock count as 'killer vid card' that would be 'well' in vista or no? (HOPEFULLY, its a yes)...
