Upgrade, 8rda6+pro, TT Big Typhoon

Thread Starter
Just upgraded my system from a 8rda3+pro with a Swiftech cooling block to a 8rda6+pro with a TT big typhoon.
Don't know if it was the luck of the draw, but I was able to increase my oc from 217fsb to 221fsb with absolutely no other changes. Don't know why, 'cause the mobo's and bios are identical except for the sata raid on the 6+. Maybe the newer board had some component revisions or upgrades. Didn't expect any increase, but, hey, I'm not complainin!
But the real surprise, for all you running air cooling, was the TT big typhoon. With the old setup, I was running at 49c full load, with all the air I could throw at that older swiftech block I was using. Brought the new system up with the bt installed, (using the stock fan, didn't even upgrade that yet!), and watched the temperature slowly rise to......39c. And quiet! Bit of a hassle to install (at least on my socket a mobo), need to remove mobo and add a bracket on the backside. But this puppy was worth every penny! So, for anybody wondering about the TT big t, it's the bomb! Go for it!

You should post the BT info in the hardware review section.

does your integrated LAN work? my first board came DOA and the second came without working LAN. I dont feel like spending more of my money to send out for another RMA. I just threw in my spare PCI LAN card and gave up on it.

Yes, the BT fits socket a's with the mounting holes. I don't think they all have them, I first bought the 8rda3+pro because it had them, since I wanted to reuse the Swiftech block I already had. Some did not appear to have them, or at least I could not tell from the mobo pictures on Newegg and Tiger Direct. But the 8rda3+pro and 6+pro both have the holes.
As for the on board lan....no problems at all. I think I had to load a driver from the cd that came with the 8rda3+pro, but I left the nic that I was using with my old mobo out when I built with the 3+ board, and the lan connected to my dlink router with no hiccups at all..........also loaded the AC97 audio driver from the cd to activate the on board audio, which also works fine. Did you load the drivers from the cd?
