Ever Had This Happen Before?

Thread Starter
My W2K PRO login is where I have a problem?

No matter how I boot or login, windows will not start? It may help to note that after I input a password and hit enter at login, [for a split second I can see the desktop try to open], then the Ctrl-Alt-Delete page re-appears just like a typical startup and thats it? I have repeated this several times, changed users, booted to safemode, Asus CD-Rom, to floppy, Restore, Ms-dos, Windows 2000 Pro CD-Rom repair applications etc... ?

Does anyone have a possible solution and / or know what would cause this behavior. I have had no problems with bios, shut downs, restarts, or windows in general since my last clean install and pow out of nowhere?

My main concern is, folding down time this has caused. If anyone has experienced this login glitch before, your insight would be greatly appreciated, of course all suggestions are helpful and appreciated.

Thanks,
Oknilp.

OK :

1.Restart your PC.
2.Go into Windows Safe mode (If possible, I think you already tried)

Sounds like your user accounts are corupted. Try logging on as administrator. If you can log on as that account you may not be as hosed as I think you are. Failing that there are ways to recover.

1.) Installing a fresh copy of Xp on a partion. This will allow you to recover the files.

2) http://www.loginrecovery.com WIndows pasword recovery

3)
John the Ripper 1.6 John the Ripper (v1.6) password breaker

4) Cross Fingers and toes and wish the error away (its worked for me in the past) call it fixed by magic.
