Give me your thoughts guy
Now that you've stepped down from an i7 980x, you should definitely take the extra money and put it towards an amazing video setup. My vote is for an SLI setup with Nvidia Surround!

I will go for 480 sli, but I what do u guys think of the raid ssd?how much difference I'm I going to see from riding vertex2 120gb? Vs 1 ssd ?

Good move with dropping 980 to 950, 4 core OC'd to 4ghz is more than enough for 2 sli.
You'll see much more benefit with 2x480s.

You might consider this:

1x SSD (Crucial 128GB or 256GB) - very fast, easy setup, no increased risk of RAID 0
120hz monitor - great 2D and option to go 3D when you want to

If budget allows you can consider:
- surround too, amazing stuff
- Corsair H50/H70 for CPU or custom water cooling for CPU & GPU's. 480s like water but the costs go up quite rapidly.

gpu set ups dont last man... go with the better cpu itll last longer - i mean we are really discussing i7 980x + sli gtx 470 vs i7 950 vs sli gtx 480

for starters the sli 470 will run everyting very smoothly unless you are doing some crazy monitor setup like 3x30' or nvidia 3d with three monitors (not sure how nvidia 3d works cause ive never owned nvidia )

so realistically for all those who say get the better gpus, there really is no reason... i mean the sli gtx 470s are more than enough, and later down the track when nvidia release some proper fermi cards, the OP can upgrade to those while having a beast of a CPU and not feeling the guilt as much as having burned $$ on two heaters called gtx 480

For gaming, an i7-950 will serve just as well as an i7-980x.

It's a gaming PC. 980X won't be any better than 950 and 480vs 470 will make a difference, especially in 3d,surround or high res.

If it's gaming you want. The responses about downgrading your CPU is spot on, don't need so much CPU power for games. I'd invest in three screens for surround vision. That'll be a greater investment and much nicer gaming experience

Or get a Dell u2711 or the 30inch Dell. Great monitors
