Bios modding my Asus x800Pro

Thread Starter
Hi Guys!

I found so many x800pro bios modding topics and all of them have different info.

The pic shows the Atitool info.

I have the card 10 mins now so i want to mod the bios in a way i can undo it in case the card burns or something.

Is it possible to flash my card? I found this tutorial..
http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...ng/vidcard/100

Thanks for helping me out!

Edit: XT speeds work fine on the card XTPE speeds are to much
I just want to unlock the 4 extra pipes but i want to be able to reset them back to 12

Hi dude,

Download this ''x800xt agp 2.0ns'' BIOS and flash it using the moded flashrom. (BIOS and flashrom attached below)
Make sure you rename the BIOS to something below 8 characters

Format a floppy disk and check ''Create MS-DOS startup disk''
Extract the files (Moded flashrom/BIOS) and put them onto the floppy disk, restart your comp and go to BIOS and change the booting priority option to floppy disk drive.

Once in dos, type this command to make a back-up of your original BIOS ''"flashrom.exe -s 0 backup.bin"

Use this command line to load the new BIOS onto the card:
''flashrom.exe -f -p 0 BIOSname.bin''

x800 xtpe BIOS core and mem clocks set to 500MHz/500MHz, ATi reference clocks.

Do i have 2.0 or 1.6 ns ramchips on my card?

My chips say:
Samsung 504, K4J55323QF-GC16

And an x800xtpe bios with 500/500 isnt that a normal xt bios then?
Thanks for helping me out but i want to understand what i am doing before i do it.

And i forgot to mention!

The card is a AGP card

You have samsung 1.6ns ram chips on your card.

The BIOS is a AGP R420 2.0ns x800xtpe with ATi x800xt reference clock speeds 500/500. (Ignore the BIOS above)

We can use two BIOS's, you can either load a 16pipe x800pro BIOS, (Same card BIOS except the last remaining quad is enabled) or you can load a x800xt/xtpe BIOS on and we can set the clocks to which will suit your card.

Break down:
1st option= Unlock the remaining quad, stock clocks at 475/450, keep the same card name.

2nd option= Unlock the remaining quad, Set the clocks to either XT level or what your card can handle (Max stable OC) and have a different card name either x800xt/xtpe.

I hex-edited my own bios now to a 16P bios. I will try to flash that one right now with the modified flashing tool.

First ill make a backup
flashrom.exe -s backup.bin

After that ill flash my modded bios
flashrom.exe -f -p 0 asus16.bin

If the pipes are bad i can change it back the way it was by typing
flashrom.exe -s backup.bin

Am i right

Correct, If you have edited the BIOS in RaBiT since hex editing, the file extension will be .rom instead of .bin.

I did the flash... Still 12 pipes in ATitool!

What went wrong? I used the modified flashrom (flashrom16p)

CONFIG_ROM_FUSES changed from : 0x1021
to : 0x1020

but no pipes unlocked :S
