i7 980x build in progress. Anything I should get/replace? - Page 5

I would stay away from that ASUS monitor linked above. With a rig like this one, you're going to severely ruin your experience by using an average monitor. The monitor is like the window to the PC's soul. All the fancy crap inside the case is fine, but if the output to the monitor (the thing you're looking at all the time) is of low quality, you're going to be really disappointed with where your money went.

These are some low cost solutions that would be a good buy.

Samsung BX2335

Samsung BX2350

Samsung PX2370 more pricey though.

Samsung BX2450 24" but still more pricey.

Samsung 2443BW This one is similar to what I am using right now. I have the 2493HM. The stand is really nice and very adjustable. I paid over $450 for mine a few years ago. I'm tempted to buy this one for myself.

Yo, i have the same build as you except for the processor. I would recommend getting a small SSD to use as your Boot disk. 64gb ought to be enough. Then run your other storage stuff off the 7200 RPM.....If you can, get two 500GB HDs and run them in RAID 0 for more performance. Just my 2 cents! The 980 should be given a demanding set up, you are slowing our PC down with that slow drive!

if you ever decide to do a large graphics array the HX1000w isnt enough.
ditch the HX1000w and get a TPQ-1200 or the silverstone 1.5Kw PSU. you have a 980x, i would assume you have the bank for it anyways.

OCN is doing exactly what it did to me man.
the HX1000w was not enough for stable operation with a full system overclock.

i would change to the haf 932 tbh. a little bigger and if you do go the water route it can be modded a little easier. and it has a little bit better air flow as well.

To bad u missed the WD SSD deal this last weekend! 400$ for two 128gb hdd !! :X That being said get two of these:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820211471

and RAID 0 them and get RIPPing fast speends on games boot up and anything related to the os. Then get one or two just depending on what you need for data of these:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136514

And your HDD problems are done!

My 0.02$ on the LCD or led or 20inches or 24 inches blah blah, go to ebay and grab a 30inch with the higher Resolution, 2560 x 1600, man. I have had friend who pick up the HP true color and dell 30 inches for 450$-650$ used yes, but aslong as they have a little of the warrenty left then you know u are not getting screwed u can always send in for a new one (that is what i am going to do when i build my next rig! Had the Dell Ulta sharp, loved it. Time for bigger lcd though) Why limit the way you can see the computer with a 24 incher ... again just my 0.02$

Edit1:
2560 x 1600
Edit2:
little of the warrenty left then

Alright I know I am getting the 6GB G.Skill 2000MHz RAM, and the Corsair HX650w because i won't SLI anytime soon.. As far as the monitor goes i am leaning towards the samsung bx2450. And with the hard drive.. Would a 64GB SSD be good for my boot drive? What brand 64GB SSD should i get? And what is the fastest 7200rpm 1TB hard drive i could get that would be around $100 or less?

Yes, I got the 980x free from a friend who represents intel. Anyways, like I was saying, I know I am getting the 6GB G.Skill 2000MHz RAM, and the Corsair HX650w because i won't SLI anytime soon..
