Help Indentifying CPU's real info?

Thread Starter
When I took my CPU out today to put on a new heatsink, I saw that my CPU had two sets of info on it regarding what type of chip it was. Typed in one direction had the following:

Intel '03
3.4/1m/800
SL7J8 Costa Rica
3430A660

and written facing another direction it had this:

3.00/1m/800
SL88M
Costa Rica
3430A660t

I was wondering if this meant that my CPU was originall designed to be a 3.4ghz and was then cut down to a 3.00ghz or why it would label it with two different speeds and two different ID numbers?

I dont know the reason for the double stamp but it is a 3.0 not a 3.4. Ive seen alot of them like this, but havent heard or seen a reason. You said you bought this last year? How did you not notice it then? Just curious.

LOL Dell huh, this would be the second time Ive heard of this coming out of a Dell. But no matter it is a 3.0ghz Im sure youve run CPUZ on it in the past and it showed that.

Hey Nebulz, good to see you here!

I got the same thing from eBay, I bought a 3.2ghz (540) and the dude said it was a 100% working unit from a Dell system. I won the auction so he sent it and when I opened the box I saw the IHS having the info for a 3.2 and 3.4 but in the end when I put it in the mobo, it was a 3.2ghz which is running at 3.6ghz now.

BTW, my Tuniq Tower 120 will be here on Friday, we'll see how it goes and glad to see that it dropped 14c for your system.

Very cool! This thing covers up almost all of my 12cm exhaust fan! There are a few rattles that come from it, but its alright overall. One suggestion though. If you install the fan controller at the rear, pop the knob off so it will fit then put it back on if you run into fitting probs. Other than that I love the 14c drop!!

Yeah I have run CPU-Z and it shows it at 3.0 but I was just curious to see if it was a underclock or something. Thanks Adeo
