Radiators...

Thread Starter
Hello,

Im new to all of this stuff and I'm extremelly keen on water coolling my box. My plan is to keep my water cooling setup cost as low as possible by making all the stuff my self.

Currently I'm caught up on radiators.. I like the idea of using old motor car heat cores as radiators but unfortunatley most of the ones listed here are mainly for sale in the US and I live in Australia and while the price may be cheap the shipping isnt.

So I was wondering what my options were, there are the overly priced premade ones, the old car heat cores, transmission coolers and of course DIY radiators.

I would appreciate any feedback from other people in Australia and what they are using and would also appreciate any feedback regarding all or any of the above methods.

Welcome to the forum mate! Another Aussie yay, at the top of the screen you will see "user cp" go in there and fill out your details
As for radiators I actually just got one from a fellow member in Brisbane, (cheers xie67) I will PM him for you to see if he has any more, they are of very good quality indeed as he is in the industry. There is a link in my sig, go there and say Hi to update the Aussie members so we can all stay in touch to help each other out with bits and pieces as we are so far away in some cases What is your budget? Will this be used for solely water cooling the rig or will there be a TEC used in the future maybe?

OK a TEC is for extreme cooling, google "peltier" and have a look, that is why I had to get a quality rad from him as they produce a lot of heat at the same time as getting very cold. He has a website for his work but that won't be useful for you. Keep an eye on this thread and I will PM xie67 regarding the rad thing to see if you could maybe do some business. There is also plenty of places in OZ to buy this sort of gear.

As we can not PM you as yet just keep an eye on this thread

Hey welcome.

The heat exchanger's tuchan is talking about are shown below for you.

The size of each unit is 400x130x75 and you can fit 3x120mm fans across one face.
The coil construction is copper tube and fin of 5rows and 4 passes.

I am not a retail outlet. The exchangers are from the earthmoving equipment field.

You will have to talk with one of the moderators for them to enable the PM function for you or you can msn me.

Yeh the only other smaller one I have is also a copper tube & fin design. It comes with a plastic enclosure/shround with a mounting plate for a 120mm fan.

The dimensions of the core are as follows all in 'mm' : 175 x 125 x 95

Check it out below
