The PPD Police - Page 91

Well I think I could use some help Ocing my CPU. I'm sure I could probably get it higher it's just too hot at higher oc's since I'm having to brute force the oc since I can't seem to find the settings my last cpu overclocked nicely this one requires alot more finesse I'm used to AMD overclocking and using the bclk with a limited multi.

What project is that sizzzle? At any rate, looks to have better TPF than my 1055T. Pretty sad.

Good question. Sizzle Digi either of you wanna help me try OC-ing my CPU more?
I used ASUS TurboV to try and get a baseline
TurboV got up to 45 on the multi with 103.1 bclk and also 46 on the multi with 101 bclk at two different times. It's at 4700 now so any ideas? I have auto pll overvoltage on which increases the temps so I was just curious.

That was a 7140 WU, now I'm showing 14,465 PPD on a 7135. That is just 3 frame average but it is the highest I've ever seen it on my i5.

Sorry Phazer I can't be of much help overclocking your 2500K. Too different from the 1st gen i5's and i7's that I'm used too. Digi has pushed his 2600 from about day 1 though so I'm sure he could probably help you out. If not this is OCN right so I'm sure there are plenty of people around with experience OCing those 2500K's. You might try the Intel CPU section.

Nice PPD figures your showing there sizzzle, looks like you should be strong in cat 2.

My 2600k is still fluctuating up and down, and I lost a bigadv while I was messing around with it, only 5 % in so not much to complain about. My 930 just dumped one at 96%

I don't know if it's the new motherboard, or something else but I am getting the impression my overclocks aren't as stable under Ubuntu as they were under Win. I went to exchange my P8P67 under the recall and they said I could upgrade and pay the difference, and it just so happened I got a bonus cheque that day Now I'm rocking the ROG Maximus IV Extreme I still need to mess around more. @ 4.9Ghz based on my lowest TPF on a 6901 i'm just over 60K PPD now, compared to 49K under Win7. The 930 has improved from 39K to 45K also, so despite a few struggles it seems the linux client is defiantly the way to go.

Phazer, I can certainly try to help you out, but if temps are of concern I might suggest you look at a better cooler soon. What kind of temps are you seeing?

Secondly, which bios version are you running? When I first got going with my 2600k the bios it shipped with honestly was crap. It was fine for running at stock + 1ghz, but much more then that it sucked. Once I upgraded to the new beta bios things really improved.. Also, the turbo v utility is junk, only got me up to 4.4Ghz. Don't both with bclock tuning, just leave it at 100, anything other and your asking for instability, just play with multi and vcore.

I'm just on my way out for the afternoon, so Phazer if you want PM me your bios settings and I'll see if anything stands out..

Temps ~78C with 1.46v under load. I can't afford a better cooler though. Just

Ok guys, I'm struggling with this oc, so I'm back to SMP units until I can get it rock solid. I had one bigadv finish yesterday, so that's good, but the next one dumped at 2% and then the computer just sat there for probably about 15hrs until I got back to work.

I'm at 4.0 now, but the temps are a bit high (85 or so on prime95 and 80 or so folding)...

Working on it.

200x20 @ 1.256 vcore... this is looking promising.

I decided to try out what the h50 owners club ppl were saying. Set the fan to exhaust. That really messed my temps up. I set it back to intake. We're looking good now.

LLC really helped with stability.

I've been using prime95 for testing today... Decided to try a smp wu... dumped at 16% and it was a big'un... 10119...

Anyways... gonna leave it like this and watch it.. temps lookin good...

we'll see
