I've seen a mobo crashing like this, at first a friend had to drop his OC from 220 to 200 to gain stability (barton 2500 on AsRock K7dual...), after a week from 200 to 166, and it finaly died.
To find out if the mobo is dead there is no other way but borowing a working piece and test the other components on the new mobo.
Good luck!
yes you could try that..but clearing the cmos would fix your oc problem right there, and if he tried a different wall outlet it cant be the psu (thats what i woulda thought it was), test your ram for sure that could be it

and check your led's if you have any

Over lunch I tried a few things:

-stuck my nose in there and took a good sniff... NO burnt smells or scorch marks
-different outlet
-different power cord
-cleared cmos/reset jumper
-disconnected all but CPU/RAM/Vid Card
-used screw driver to short the power on pins right on the mobo
-no diagnostic LED on mobo... there is an "80 port" little LCD display, that is blank, unlit.

nothing worked. Totally unresponsive. It's as if everything were disconnected... but it's all actually CONNECTED! Aergh. This must mean it's dead...

what are the chances that my CPU is okay? Any way of checking? How about Hard Drives....... that's the one that really scares me. It's been too long since I backed up, maybe 6 months... I will lose a lot of cool stuff if they died too... oh man.

I'm gonna see if Epox will let me RMA the board...

it sounds like the mobo is dead..you can take the cpu out and check if it looks deformed, burned, melted pins or test it with a different mobo but otherwise i dont know..if the lcd is blank then it definitely sounds dead

Check the dime sized battery for the correct voltage with a volt meter or replace it! They are anywhere form $1.20-4.00 depending on where you buy it.
3-3.3v and if it's low it won't power the CMOS which = the appearance of a dead MB!

Haven't thaught of that, it's worth trying to replace that battery to see if it boots with a new one. Sometimes the best solutions are the simple ones
