AMD 4000 Refining

post #1 of 12
Thread Starter
Seeing how I got good results already I just want to know if I can possibly make anything better with my following settings:

Here is where I am with the overclock scene:

CPU+Bios
CPU= AMD64 4000 Sandiego
Ram Brand= Corsair XMS 2048-4000PT
Bios Version= 1016

Mother Board = A8N-SLI DLX
FSB= 255
Multi= 11.5
HTT= 4
CPU Speed= 2936
CPU Voltage= 1.4875

Ram = Corsair 2048-4000PT
RAM Speed + Timmings=
CAS# 3
MIN RAS# 8
RAS# to CAS# 4
Row Precharge# 4
Divider= 1:1
Ram Voltage= 2.85
PSW = 560watt Thermaltake

I have run Prime95 for 24hrs straight with no errors. Max temp was 38C. I am using a Thermalright XP-120 with Panaflow Ultra fan.

I cannot seem to get the system to post with 12x @ 250 or 12x @ 245 with 1.4875. Can anyone recommend anymore refining here?

run a divider your running it 1:1 right now? your cpu will go farther with a divider

and maybe tighten the timings

Well what are the cons to changing the divider and having my memory run at 333 instead of 400? The pros would be higher CPU FSB correct? And could I possibly be able to lower the VCORE too?

if you lower your vcore your probably going to get a lower oc..so dont do that..and yes you will have a higher cpu fsb..with me personally i keep my cpu down a little and max my memory..running a divider with me it slows down my whole system..i notice a difference but you should try..experiment with it

Yeah, 1:1 can be really nice but a divider is not evil, I've recently learned this myself, I can run 260x10 1:1 2.5-4-4-8 and super pi 1M@33.952 or I can run 270x10 180 divider 2.5-3-3-6 1M@32.375. So there ya go, if the divider lets your cpu relax a little and get another 100 or so mhz then it's worth it (also your probably better off without the .5 multi).

I guess I need to learn more about these dividers as I am unclear at how they are exactly working. If I take my memory frrom 400 to 333 is that a 180divider?

Can you change the title of the thread so it is more descriptive about the subject?

it could be your mobo... mine doesnt really like the 12 multi and it doesnt like 1T command rate.
p.s. what stepping is your chip?

have you tried that latest beta bios?
