SR-2 Build in a Cosmos S - Page 7

Yes, quite easily. The inside of the cosmos 1000 is very similar to that of the Cosmos s, if I am not mistaken. It shouldn't be much of a problem as where there is no support for regular standoffs there are foam stand offs with sticky tape which you can use.
There is also a guy on the EVGA forums completely modifying his cosmos 1000 in order to fit the motherboard.

Thanks. Rep'd. How many of the pci slots line up with the expansion slot on the back of the case?

You'll get 5 or so, and depending on your power supply you may need to modify where the power supply sits just a bit. Its worth it though. Cosmos are great looking cases, and are pretty big so theres no reason not to try to utilize the case as long as you can, at least I think so.

(its a 4890)

But yeah it dwarfs even my 4870x2. which is rather impressive considering its about as long as a 5970 with the accelero cooler.

I like none of the case choices for the SR2 - dislike the MM, DD, and the Lian Lia offerings - just no style to them. The only thing that has held me back from going sr2 is the case. Also homw many metal standoffs lined up with the board and did your drill additional holes? For my SM board i had to drill holes for standoffs.

I've been lurking for a while but I had to register after seeing this thread.

I'm planning an SR-2 in a Cosmos 1000 in the next week or two so I was pretty stoked when I saw your build! I was hoping an H50 would reach all the way to the bottom intake but it looks like it'll be a few inches short even on the SR-2. What did you end up doing to make it reach? It looks like you stacked three fans in the pics.

Thanks! I set it up as intake fan, then shroud, then radiator, then another fan, and it reached perfectly.

Same here, not to mention, the cases for the sr-2 are insanely expensive. I lined up almost all of the stand offs except the very extraneous ones. And for the places where standoff holes were not present, I was able to use the standoffs provided with the sr-2 with sticky tape, in order to support the board. I did end up bunching two more rows of the tape below as the standoffs weren't tall enough otherwise.

Thanks for the info! Also from your photos here and at EVGA forums it looks like the PSU bloock 2 or 3 of the PCI slots. Right?

Yeah, unfortunately. Unless you go for more than 2 cards though it shouldnt be too big of a deal..I basically have 5 out of the 7 available pci-e x to use with my sr-2. I'm working on a way to mount the psu, but at the moment its nothing more than an idea.
