yeah hes right, its impossible thats what i found before, hardware limitations -_- didnt know itwas just for 7 series though.

I'm not sure I buy it. Isn't that what they've always said, and why FarCry doesn't have both? But then didn't Valve pull it off with Lost Coast? I distinctly remember the Valve developers saying that they were not willing to compromise, that they would not implement an HDR solution that prevented AA...

The reason why there is HDR + AA in Lost Coast is because that implementation was based on sm2.0 (hence why any non-X1X00 series Ati card can enjoy HDR). Oblivion uses the same sm3.0 implementation of HDR as Farcry which would explain why you can't run AA with sm3.0 based HDR (a.k.a True HDR).

This ability to run HDR with AA must be because the patch forces sm2.0 HDR.

And if that's true, then the same forceing of SM2 could be done in the nVidia card, yes? I.e., it sounds like a software issue after all. And if ATI can do this in a driver/game patch, I find it hard to believe that nVidia cannot also do it.

The truth is that Oblivion uses FP16 HDR, which Nvidia cards cannot use in conjunction with AA, it is in fact a hardware issue. Their may be a way to "fake" the FP16 HDR and AA, but it will not be the same.

orrrrrrr they could just do a certain patch for nvidia cards using a different type of HDR to allow for both to be used.
