new oblivion patch HDR & AA :D - Page 5

Actually, the lost coast demo is not true hdr. It's limited, meaning it doesn't utilize full sm3.0, etc. As a result, you can run AA and "false" hdr at the same time. Oblivion uses true HDR with full SM3 support, hence no AA.

Well, the HDR in Lost Cost looked pretty good to me. I would take it in Oblivion over no HDR at all, and I'm sure every other nVidia owner out there would agree with me.

I agree. Lost coast looks sweet, even with that so called 'fake' HDR.

The creator of the "Chuck Patch" speaks out.

Chuck @ ATI In a way. When I first read that Oblivion wouldn't initially support HDR+AA, I was shocked and disappointed. Like everyone else, I was really looking forward to the stunning graphics in Oblivion and I wanted to turn on all the bells and whistles and see what it could do on the X1900. I knew that I could actually do something to get HDR+AA working for end users right away, so I went to work on a driver patch. I'll give you more details later.

In order for SM 2.0 HDR to be enabled, it would have to be coded into the game. So if its not there, you cant force it.
