I have my D 345 up to 4.14Ghz from 3.06Ghz with the vcore at 1.6 and max load temps around 58C. the rated voltage is from 1.35-1.4. When I try to put the vcore up over 1.6 the computer won't boot. What's the deal?

By what you said....you have the Vcore at 1.6 and 58c load. Then you say it wont load at 1.6? I dont get this....you have it set at 1.6, and its around 1.4, but when you set it to 1.6 it wont work ? Please clarify and I'll try to help ya out

Your Celeron D 345 has a Prescott core, so it is not recommended to exceed 1.525Vcore with air cooling.

That is probably why you can't boot above 1.6Vcore.
I'm pretty sure you have reached your max possible overclock, with air cooling.

right now I have my fsb @180 with the vcore @ 1.6v. I want to take the fsb up over 180, but I need to raise the vcore for it to be stable, but when I set the vcore in the bios to 1.625(the next highest vcore) the computer won't boot at all... it exits bios and then just a black screen. is that limit for this chip?

Are you getting a .sys error? You problem if probably because your harddrive is being currupted by the Vcore. It happens to me at 1.5V. Anyways, you really should not go about 1.525. 4Ghz is pretty good OC.

Hmm I dunno but for PCmark05 I get almost 4k CPU score.

I don't get any errors, it just goes from the bios to a black screen. When I drop the voltage back to 1.6 it'll boot fine. maybe there's some kind of built in protection on the chip?

1.6V!!! You should never exceed 1.525! What were you running at?!? The CPU was overheating, and the chipset shut it down to prevent damage!

how can it overheat in less than a second? the temps don't even go above 60C. on idle I'm at about 40-45C. I meant do the chips have some kind of protection built in that don't let them get up over 1.6V?
